The three-year programme provides students with a strong foundation in information systems applications development as well as its related management and organisational issues. Students will be familiarised with the application of information system development knowledge to plan, design and manage IT resources for various ICT projects, teams or organisations. The faculty believes that such knowledge is essential not only for the effective utilisation of the information systems technology, but also in the holistic approach of planning, developing, controlling and operations of the systems. The purpose is to produce graduates who are knowledgeable in the components of information technology and are capable of planning, designing and managing the information technology resources necessary for any projects, teams or organisations.

Students will initially be exposed to the core components such as Computer Architecture and Organisation, Data Communications and Networking, Computer Programming, Object Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Discrete Mathematics and Probability, Database Systems, Systems Analysis and Design, Mathematical Techniques and Operating Systems.

And to further strengthen the learning experience in the management perimeter of the IT industry, the faculty offers electives such as Critical Thinking in Organisations, Fundamentals of Finance And Marketing, Introduction to Macroeconomics and Microeconomics, Business Communications and ICT Risk Management.

Students will also undergo an industrial training as part of the course in order to provide clearer understanding of the career in IT management. Potential career prospects include MIS Manager/Executive, IT Resource Manager/Executive and Management Consultant.

Entry Requirements

Either of the following:
  • Pass Foundation in related field from a recognized institution, and a credit in Mathematics at O Level or its equivalent
  • Pass A level or its equivalent with 3 Principals inclusive of Mathematics, and a credit in Mathematics at O Level or its equivalent
  • Pass Diploma in related field from recognized institution with minimum CGPA of 2.50, and a credit in Mathematics at O Level or its equivalent
  • Pass any other Diploma in science and technology or business studies from recognized institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a credit in Mathematics at O level or its equivalent may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process.*

AND

  • A minimum score of 5.0 for IELTS or its equivalent

Note: Candidates with CGPA below 2.50 but above 2.00 may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process.

Either of the following:
  • Pass Foundation / Matriculation in related field from a recognised institution, and a credit in Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent
  • Pass STPM / A level or its equivalent with 3 Principals inclusive of Mathematics, and a credit in Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent
  • Pass UEC with minimum of grade B in at least five (5) subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English
  • Pass Diploma in related field from recognised institution with minimum CGPA of 2.50, and a credit in Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent
  • Pass any other Diploma in science and technology or business studies from recognised institution with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process
