Electronics Majoring in Telecommunications

Engineering students taking the Telecommunications Engineering course in the Faculty of Engineering will be collectively exposed to the design and implementation of communication systems for processing and transmitting information, and the creation of applications for mobile phones and Internet-based services.
Substantial training in engineering mathematics is also included in the programme, with an emphasis of subjects in management, economics, accounting and law. Students are required to take industrial training and graduation projects to provide them with useful industrial experience and research training. The programme is designed to be a four-year engineering course in Telecommunications.

Programme Outcomes

  1. Acquire and apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals
  2. Acquire technical competence in specialized areas of engineering discipline to solve complex engineering problems
  3. Identify and analyze complex engineering problems, and formulate solutions based on fundamental principles of science and engineering
  4. Design solutions for complex engineering problems that meet specified needs with relevant considerations of their impacts in society
  5. Conduct investigation and research on complex engineering problems in the chosen field of study
  6. Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools to complex engineering activities

Entry Requirements

Either of the following:
  • Pass in related Foundation programme from a recognised institution
  • Or Pass in A Level / equivalent with 3 principals inclusive of Mathematics and Physics
  • Or Pass in related Diploma from a recognised institution

AND

  • A minimum score of 5.5 for IELTS or its equivalent
Either of the following:
  • Pass Foundation / Matriculation in related field from a recognised institution
  • Pass STPM / A Level or its equivalent with 3 principals inclusive of Mathematics and Physics
  • Pass Diploma in related field from a recognised institution
  • Pass UEC with minimum of grade B in at least five (5) subjects inclusive of Mathematics and Physics
