During the event, MMU was represented by Ts. Mohamad Firdaus Mat Saad, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), who received an appreciation plaque from YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital. Earlier on 14 April 2026, MMU was also invited to contribute to the University Student Tech Talk titled “The Digital Compass: Navigating the World of DNS and the .MY Ecosystem”, held at the MMU Cyberjaya campus. Among 95 researchers from Malaysia’s private universities listed in the World’s Top 2% Scientists, only 15 were selected for this prestigious recognition. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Lilian was ranked No. 1 in the field of Social Science among all private higher education institutions and was the only recipient from MMU.

Organised by Persatuan Profesor Universiti Swasta Malaysia (PPUSM), the national body representing professors from private universities, the event recognises outstanding achievements in academia and research across the country. It was officiated by Datuk Wira Dr. Ashraf Wajdi Dato’ Dusuki, Chairman of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). The session was also attended by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud.

Key discussions focused on the impact of digital transformation on the accounting profession, particularly the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and data analytics. Speakers highlighted how these technologies are reshaping accountants’ roles from traditional reporting functions to strategic advisory responsibilities, while also emphasising the importance of digital literacy, critical thinking, and data-driven decision-making.

The conference also placed strong emphasis on sustainability and integrated reporting, with sessions highlighting the increasing role of accountants in supporting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. Ethical awareness and professional integrity were also underscored as critical competencies in navigating today’s complex business environment.

Another major focus was the transformation of accounting education. Speakers encouraged curriculum innovation through the integration of digital tools, experiential learning, and stronger industry collaboration, alongside the development of soft skills such as adaptability, communication, and lifelong learning.

The first session, Effective Customer Management, was held on 21 April 2026 at TM R&D, Cyberjaya, for Cyberjaya staff. The training focused on improving customer handling skills and strengthening service delivery among frontliners and administrative personnel.

The second session, Managing Difficult Clients: Strategies for Frontliners, took place on 23 April 2026 at Graha Maju, Melaka, involving MMU Melaka staff. It provided practical approaches for managing challenging customer interactions while maintaining professionalism and service standards.

Both sessions aim to equip staff with essential Customer Experience (CX) skills to better support MMU stakeholders and improve day-to-day service delivery. The initiative also aligns with the MORE MMU agenda, particularly in enhancing customer satisfaction and service quality, as well as supporting improvements in tNPS performance under the ONETOUCHPOINT initiative. TMO will continue to roll out similar training programmes to further strengthen a customer-focused culture and support service excellence across MMU.

The session was coordinated by Ms. Nur Faezah Binti Jayiddin and Dr. Nor Hasliza Binti Mat Hasan, in collaboration with the Centre for Alumni and Career Connect. Dr. Khair Razlan Othman, Head of the Centre for Alumni, also attended the event and presented a memento to the speaker. By the end of the session, students had gained not only practical career tips for accounting internships and entry-level roles, but also a deeper understanding of how ethical and professional conduct enhance employability while strengthening alumni-industry collaboration.

The session featured two sharing sessions: From Policy to Practice: Classifying AI Use in Academic Manuscript Preparation by Ms. Xian Luo (Green and Low-Carbon Economy, GLCE), and From Bon View’s Research Publication Perspective: Policy to Practice towards Scopus by ChM Dr. Mohamad Razlan B. Abd Rahman (Journal Development Specialist).

The programme saw the participation of more than 80 attendees, including academicians from various universities, researchers, as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students, reflecting active engagement from the academic community.

The session began with an opening speech by Dr. Khoh Wee How, Deputy Dean (Academic and Innovative Learning), FIST, and concluded with a closing remark by Prof. Ts. Dr. Md. Shohel Sayeed, Chairperson of the Center of Intelligent Cloud Computing (CICC).

The event was organised by Dr. Jashila Nair Mogan, with support from Mr. Alvin Lim Fang Chuen, Ms. Amelia Binti Kassim, Mr. Brendan Hong Jun Zhi, Mr. Pang Wei Ming, Mr. Poh Li Zhe, Ms. Sharifah Noor Masidayu Sayed Ismail, Mr. Thinesh Ganesan, and Dr. Yap Hui Yen. Among the activities highlighted was the industrial talk entitled “Siswa Bijak Cukai” held at Persada Permata Dunia Hall, MMU Melaka. Delivered by Puan Azlina binti Hussin from HASiL Melaka, the session provided insights into Malaysia’s taxation system, taxpayer responsibilities, and common misconceptions among young taxpayers.

On the same day, a TV handover ceremony was held at the FOB Ground Floor, MMU Melaka. The television, contributed by HASiL Melaka, will serve as a Sudut Percukaian (Tax Corner) to disseminate up-to-date tax information to students and staff. The ceremony was officiated by Puan Siti Norashikin Osman, Director of HYTB, HASiL Melaka, and received by Mr Tan Gek Siang, Deputy Dean of FOB. Tax Ambassadors appointed under the programme will manage and update the information displayed.

The programme concluded on 23 April 2026 with a hands-on taxplorace activity at the Melaka Botanical Garden, involving 80 students. The outdoor learning session featured three interactive challenge segments designed to enhance understanding of taxation concepts while encouraging teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The flag-off was officiated by Puan Norashikin Osman together with Puan Siti Zarifah Amir from FOB, while the closing ceremony at Menara HASiL Melaka was officiated by Datuk Mohd Shahriz bin Ramli, Director of HASiL Melaka.

Overall, the HYTB programme successfully combined industry engagement, awareness initiatives, and experiential learning, strengthening collaboration between HASiL Melaka and MMU while nurturing a more tax-aware and responsible generation of future graduates.

The week commenced with two key engagements. MMU first hosted EMPI Business School, India, where Associate Professor Dr. Arnifa Binti Semawi from the Strategic Quality Assurance (SQA) unit delivered a talk on Malaysia’s Human Resource Management (HRM) framework. Her session covered national workforce dynamics and emerging HR trends shaping the future of work. The engagement fostered active academic exchange and dialogue between both institutions.

Later the same day, MMU held discussions with the Qingdao Research Institute of UIBE, China. Representing MMU were Prof. Tan Booi Chien, Dean of the Faculty of Management (FOM), and Mr. Tan Gek Siang, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business (FOB). The discussion explored potential academic collaborations and avenues for institutional partnership development.

The University also welcomed delegates from Sahmyook University, South Korea, led by Dr. Kyunghyun Suh and Dr. Jinhan Yoon. The visit focused on potential collaboration in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, and research initiatives. The session was supported by faculty representatives from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE) and the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), reflecting MMU’s multidisciplinary strengths.

The momentum continued with a benchmarking visit from Notre Dame of Marbel University, Philippines. Discussions centred on programme structures, curriculum design, teaching approaches, and research development across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The week concluded with a visit from the Institute of Technology of La Rochelle University, France. The session, led by ICE Director Dr. Sy. Nurleyana Wafa Binti Sy. Naguib Wafa, focused on student mobility opportunities, including admission pathways, visa processes, support services, and French language preparation for outbound students. Collectively, the engagements reflect MMU’s sustained efforts to expand its global footprint through strategic partnerships and academic diplomacy.
