Our student secures place in Student Focus final of 2017 Sony World Photography Awards

A photograph taken by Nursyafiqah Azlan, a student from Faculty of Creative Multimedia  during a family trip to Malacca has been shortlisted for the world’s largest photography competition.


Nursyafiqah Azlan’s photograph, titled “Unforgettable Memories”, was submitted for the Student Focus competition of the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards.  The participants were students from more than 300 institutions worldwide.

The Student Focus shortlist was announced, the same day as those photographers shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards’ Professional, Open and Youth competitions, to which a total of 227,596 images from 183 countries  entered.

Nursyafiqah will later be flown to London for the competition and also attend the Sony World Photography Awards ceremony on April 20.

The winner of the Student Photographer of the Year title will be announced at the ceremony and will receive the grand prize of €30,000 (about RM140,000) worth of Sony equipment for his/her university.
