MMU ARCHIVES AND RECORDS CENTER

Multimedia University (MMU), acting through its MMU Archives and Records Center (MARC), recognizes its responsibility to the academic and non-academic community of MMU for the orderly retention and disposition of all University records, both active and inactive, and for the timeless preservation of historically significant documents and other materials which reflect the University's origins and development and the activities and achievements of its officers, faculty, students, alumni, and benefactors.

MMU Archive and Records Center (MARC) offers cost center low-cost storage, reference service, and disposal of inactive paper records. The MARC's primary function is to serve cost center needs for inactive records maintenance and security. Records stored at MARC may be retrieved or permanently withdrawn by the custodial cost center as needed.

Function

  • MARC designated as the official repository of all inactive and historical records of the university's administrative offices, academic departments, committees and student groups.
  • Organize and supervise the deposit and servicing of inactive files in the records center and the eventual permanent conveyance of historical material to the archives
  • Provide records retention and retrieval services which assist the faculty and administrative staff in the ongoing operation of the university
  • Provide appropriate facilities for retention, preservation and servicing of its holding
  • Provide consultation service to other departments in term of records management
  • Supervise the implementation of records management program in MMU
  • To provide and facilitate proper records disposal
  • Supervise the standardize filing system through the whole university

The purpose of the records management program, administered by the MARC is to promote economy and efficiency in the creation, organization, maintenance, retention, use, and disposition of the MMU official records.

The primary concern MMU Records Management Program is the efficient, effective, and economical management of university records and information. Proper records management ensures that information is available when and where it is needed, in an organized and efficient manner, and in an appropriate environment.
