REDICE'08 adopts the theme Local Development, Global Edge. The aim of the conference is to provide the greatest possible opportunity for interaction and exchange of information and thus provide a platform to catalyse action. Therefore, the conference has been organised along the lines of stakeholder issues. Too rarely do the lines the government, corporate and civil society sit side by side and link arms to drive economic and social development in parallel. Actors from corporate community and civil society must take their rightful place along side the government to ensure successful implementation of the various regional development initiatives. The dynamic nature of the interaction among the diverse players makes it crucial to understand each other's concerns and capabilities. The synergy between multiple parties could result in unparalleled growth and prosperity. As such the conference not only call for papers dealing with policies but also with corporate and community issues.
