Student Financial Assistance
   
   
Financial matters may not be a problem anymore to hinder the student's pursuit of higher education with the establishment of the Scholarship Unit. The Unit manages the administration of scholarship and loans for student as well as being responsible for the general administrative tasks of the Admission and Scholarship Division. Constant liaison with agencies and companies assist in the provision of financial aids to students.

What is Financial Aid?
Financial aid is monetary assistance from institutional, governmental or non-governmental sources that deems available to support students in affording educational costs. This aid can be in the form of academic scholarship, low-interest loans, student employment etc.
 
FAQ on Financial Aid
1. Will there be any scholarship / loan offered to needy students?

Yes. Students will be notified every now and then on the various financial aids available. Besides during Orientation Week, the Scholarship Unit will conduct briefing on the application and availability of financial aids.
2. Does MMU itself provide financial assistance to students?

No. MMU does not provide scholarship / loan to students. Instead the Scholarship Unit collaborates closely with other esteemed organizations also to provide financial aids to students

 
3. Which body is the largest provider of financial aid to Multimedia University’s students?
Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN)
4. What is PTPTN ?

This is a type of loan furnished by the Malaysian government to assist students financially in public as well as private institutions of higher learning. The chances of government servants and government retirees getting selected are very high or in fact almost 100% secured. Students need to pay back the loan obtained with a 4% interest charge upon graduation.

 
5. Since Telekom Malaysia is the parent company of Multimedia University, does Telekom provide scholarship or loan as well?

Telekom Malaysia provides Yayasan Telekom scholarship to qualified students. Selection process is solely under the jurisdiction of Telekom Malaysia. Hence students need to liaise personally with Telekom Malaysia for further enquiry on the selection. Advertisement inviting for application will be advertised in the major local dailies at the end of every year.

 
6. How do I Become Eligible?

Students who apply for any scholarship / loan should complete the application procedure accordingly, stated by the sponsors due to the fact that different sponsors impose varied criteria of selection for eligibility. Final consideration for financial aids occurs only after the confirmation of your admission to Multimedia University. Strict adherence to deadlines is highlighted.

 
7. How long does it take to process my application?

Allow appropriate time to the Scholarship Unit to submit your application to the relevant sponsors. The duration to process student’s application is highly dependent on the policies of the sponsors. However the Scholarship Unit will always update the students on the latest information available.

 
8. How do I gather further information on the availability of other possible financial aids?
